“With great power …”
Peter Parker looked into his Uncle Ben’s eyes … in some versions for the last time … as his wizened uncle uttered the famous phrase that proved to be the catalyst for Peter’s superhero trajectory:
“With great power comes great responsibility.”
This sentiment has the potential to make a huge impact on the world. That’s where Good Done Great comes in. One of Change Media’s team, Craig, recently got to travel with Earl Bridges, president of Good Done Great, to East Asia and see the impact they were helping a large corporation have there. Craig got to see them helping a large American corporation facilitate amazing things like clean birth kits for mothers in Nepal and Myanmar.
What Good Done Great is doing is something called corporate social responsibility (CSR).
What is CSR exactly?
Here is what Good Done Great has to say:
“We believe that businesses have the same responsibility as nonprofits, foundations, and other philanthropic groups to improve our community through social and environmental stewardship. In some cases, we may be positioned to even make a GREATER impact. Working with our clients and partners, we strive to improve the world around us with more effective, targeted philanthropy that produces measurable outcomes.”
We love Good Done Great because they see the great needs in the world and recognize the untapped potential that large corporations have to help meet those needs. Many times those corporations are very willing to help—but just don’t know where to get started.
“We work with some of the largest brands in the world,” said Earl. “It’s that intersection of resources and time and money through their employees and the money that they can contribute through their grant making. We look at corporate social responsibility as that opportunity to take all the profits, and the time, and the efforts that they are done and turn them into a better world.”
Corporations have great power and Good Done Great comes alongside them like wise old Uncle Ben and helps them tap into the potential they have to make a difference in the world.
